I don't even think I can explain how adorable Maggie & Michael's engagement story is. To give you a sense: it involved a scavenger hunt, [cute not creepy] creeping, balloons, a park, and a fake story about a broken down car on an overpass. For their session, Maggie & Michael brought me to where it all unfolded: Bryan Park. We had such a good time traipsing around in the greenery (and getting bitten by a few moquitoes)! Congrats to both of y'all!
Now that the Richmond Tarot Project has a future home at Gallery5, we've stepped up our shooting schedule to one card per week and it has been HECTIC. Between these shoots, engagement shoots, weddings, and family sessions, I barely have time for my day job, my beau, and our adventures (like buying a Prius)!
However, this week I'm playing catchup and I'm happy to share this awesome card: THE FOOL featuring a very special model, my friend Prabir (from the band Gold Rush). As with most cards, there are many interpretations of the fool, but the one that embodies why I picked Prabir is this one:
The Fool is the spirit in search of experience. He represents the mystical cleverness within us, the childlike ability to tune into the inner workings of the world.
This is the last card I'm going to be sharing on this site as we keep future cards secret in preparation for our show in October! However, you can see all the already-released cards ON PINTEREST and you'll still get lots of yummy behind-the-scenes peeks along the way--so stay tuned!
Emaleigh was such a great model (and our Production Assistant was so handy) that we got about a zillion lovely shots during our JUSTICE shoot! Here are a few more for you to enjoy. Which is your favorite??
So excited to share this card with y'all because it features my excellent partner-in-crime, Emaleigh, as JUSTICE, which also happens to be the card that corresponds to our zodiac sign, Libra. Some words associated with this card are: decision, intellect, analysis, realism, responsibility, rationality and clear vision.
Check back tomorrow for some amazing outtakes (it was HARD to choose a final card!) and behind-the-scenes action!
Two weeks ago, we had a very busy weekend of TWO Tarot shoots! And now I'm so happy to debut the very first Tarot card featuring a gentleman, The Hermit. We shot this in Southside on Buttermilk trail, practically on top of the much-used mountain bike trail, and were constantly bombarded with hundreds of inchworms ALL OVER THE PLACE. Occupational hazards abound! But we stuck it out and I think captured the essence of this card. Enjoy!
I had such a great time shooting the Wheel of Fortune card for the Richmond Tarot Project, in part because of how awesome the folks at Amuse in the VMFA were. However, there was so much greatness happening--great modeling, great art direction, and great site staff--that it was almost impossible to pick a favorite for the card! So I wanted to give y'all a peek into some of the shots that didn't make it to the final cut. What do you think?
Last week we had some unseasonably warm weather so Baker and Lily and I went on an adventure to Belle Isle! Lily is a fan of the rocks and sticks, Baker is a fan of the water and trains, and I'm a fan of spending time in the sunshine taking photos!
Gotta love a late afternoon hangout with a darling baby and her two mommies! I had so much fun meeting baby Bobbie and ALL HER HAIR that I didn't want to stop shooting...but after a while she was ready for dinner. In the meantime I captured a ton of adorable faces and sweet moments:
To call my afternoon with Cristan, Clair, Henry, and Jack "delightful" would be a vast understatement. Aside from the general awesomeness of photographing tattooed parents (and a kid wearing a bowtie and suspenders), I was excited to get a chance for some behind-the-scenes time with one of Richmond's coolest new frontmen (check his site: clairmorgan.com). The Morgans did not disappoint:
